Credentials
How to read an Alethris credential.
Every credential an academy issues on Alethris opens to a public record. It shows what was assessed, who judged it and how, and whether the credential still stands.
- Free to check
- No account needed
- We never record who looked
Six questions the record answers.
Each number on the record is one of them, in the order the record shows them.
- 1
Whether it still stands
Active, expired, revoked, withdrawn or replaced, read from the record each time it is opened. A replaced credential links to the one that replaced it.
- 2
Who issued it
A Verified academy mark means Alethris has checked the academy's registration against the Corporate Affairs Commission's register. An academy without one is not marked down.
- 3
What it certifies
Assessed skills, judged against the academy's standard in assessed work, or completion only, which says plainly that it certifies no skill.
- 4
Who checked whom
Whether a second assessor confirmed the evidence, or whether the assessor taught the cohort. Where the record cannot say, as for self-paced work, it says nothing.
- 5
How each skill was judged
Each skill names its assessor, the level they signed and the method: evidence review, live observation, oral interview or practical demonstration.
- 6
The work behind it
Up to five pieces of the assessed work, if the learner chooses, exactly as they were handed in. A link is marked as possibly changed since.
What a credential does not claim.
Knowing the limits of a record is part of reading it.
- A degree or a national qualification
- A title that claims one, from a degree or an HND to a national certificate or an NSQ, is refused. A credential is the academy's own award.
- A test set by Alethris
- Alethris sets no tests of its own. The academy's assessors judge the work, and the record names each of them.
- Accreditation
- Alethris does not accredit academies. The Verified academy mark confirms who issued a credential, not how well they teach.
- The certificate as the proof
- The PDF certificate presents the record. The record on Alethris, which its QR code opens, is what counts.
